TAP new routes from Lisbon to USA: New York and Boston

The Portuguese flag carrier TAP has announced new direct services to the United States from Lisbon Airport.

The long awaited decision to go ahead with the routes to New Jork – JFK Airport and Boston Logan Airport was approved by ANAC, the Portuguese civil aviation authority, which has recently imposed a 3-month period of precautionary measures on the airline facing the risk of a financial collapse.

Daily flights from Lisbon to New York-JFK will be available from July 1st, while flights to Boston-Logan will take off, also on a daily basis, already in June 11st.The departure and arrival times for new flights from Lisbon to USA are as follows:

LIS – JFK
departure: 17:00, arrival: 20:00

JFK – LIS
departure: 23:30, arrival: 11:30 (of the next day)

LIS – BOS
departure: 14:25, arrival: 17:00

BOS – LIS
departure: 19:45, arrival: 07:20 (of the next day)

The tickets for the new routes are already on sale, at promotional prices starting form 799 euros for the return trip, taxes included. Both routes will be operated by Airbus A330 aircrafts, provided by the American airline Jet Blue which has a partnership with TAP on routes to the States.

Free flights Lisbon-Porto
Although Lisbon, the capital, remains the base for the flights to and from the USA, the travellers to Europe via Portugal, will get a chance to get to know more of the country at no additional cost. All  passengers with a stop-over in Lisbon exceeding 24 hours will be offered a free flight to Porto and back in time for their connecting flight to the final destination. This initiative, other than make TAP’s offer even more appealing  is also expected to boost tourism business in Porto which itself is an increasingly popular destination in Europe.

Increased frequency on routes from Lisbon to Miami and Newark
Together with launching new direct services, TAP strengthens its presence in the North America by increasing the frequency of the routes already existing: the flights from Lisbon to Miami and Newark will now be operated daily, seven days a week.
